Surgery and Moving Forward

ree

This is the first picture I have standing up from the wheelchair that transported me downstairs from Duke's hospital to the car to return to the nearby hotel for post-op recovery. All of my respect and enormous gratitude to the Duke team for the approximate 7-8 hour procedure which, in the words of the head neurosurgeon and my new hero Dr Friedman, went as well as it could have.

We will learn more over the next week about monitoring and possible follow on procedures and treatments ahead.

I am amazed that I can even type this message less than 48 hours after surgery completion. Lights and screens still don't agree with me, so I won't be checking my phone much over the next few days. I have so, so appreciated all of the encouraging words of support that have poured in. Thank you and all the best!! More soon.
